Muslim Scholar Mullah Krekar Sentenced to Jail for Defending His Religion

Norway, – Mullah Krekar, an Iraqi-born Muslim scholar should now spend his days in jail for five years ahead after his effort to defend his religion, Islam.

Mullah Krekar, whose real name is Najmuddin Faraj Ahmad, was accused of threatening three Norwegian Kurds who have proven clearly to have burned the Holy Quran.

Not enough with burning the Quran, the three Kurds did also insult Islam and the Holy Quran in another way, a report from RTT News says.

Mullah Krekar is well-known as the founder of an Islamic organization Ansar al-Islam, which was established in 2001.

He decided to relinquish his throne at the Ansar al-Islam in 2002, but the Norway authority insisted that Mr Krekar does still lead the organization.

The Norway government alone has listed this Iraq-based organization as one of the so many ‘terrorist’ groups having direct or indirect links with Al-Qaeda.

Mullah Krekar also denied having any link with Al-Qaeda saying that the link between him and Al-Qaeda is the link of Islamiyah or most known as “Ukhuwah Islamiyah.”

Mullah Krekar (55) moved to Norway dated back in 1991 after being granted asylum in eastern Oslo remembering that the Iraqi government could not issue of promise that he would not face torture or execution.

In Norway, Mr Krekar married to a wife and has four children, with all of his family members are rights for Norwegian citizenship, but not Mullah Krekar himself.

Amidst his efforts to defend his religion from being insulted by the Norwegian Kurds, Mr Mullah Krekar should now face discrimination and injustice from the surrounding authority.

Not enough with sentencing five years in jail, in November 2007 the High Court of Norway issued a statement that Mullah Krekar was a ‘danger to national security.’

“Remember how the unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out of thy home. They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners,” (Al-Anfal: 30). (RTTNews), Wallahu’alam bish shawwab.
